A drawing pad that is always ready

Open this page and you have a clean sheet and a soft natural pencil ready to go. It is a quick place to sketch an idea, practise drawing, doodle during a call, plan a layout, or let children paint without installing an app. The canvas works with a mouse, a touch screen or a stylus, and pen pressure is supported, so lines taper naturally when you press lightly. Zoom with Ctrl and the mouse wheel or a two-finger pinch, and hold Space to move around the page.

The Brushes menu offers nine different media. Natural pencil gives grainy graphite lines for sketches, crayon produces a waxy texture, oil lays down bristly streaks, and watercolor builds soft, translucent washes that deepen where strokes overlap. The airbrush keeps spraying while you hold the button, the marker gives flat, see-through color, and the two calligraphy pens create thick-and-thin lettering. Pick any color from the palette or design your own with Edit colors.

Layers for cleaner artwork

Professional illustrators separate their work into layers, and you can too. Keep a rough sketch on one layer, draw clean line art on a new layer above it, and paint colors on a layer below. Lower the opacity of the sketch so it acts as a guide, then hide it when you are finished. Layers can be duplicated, renamed, reordered and merged at any time.

Your sketches stay yours

The sketchpad runs entirely in your browser. Drawings are never uploaded, and the automatic backup lives only in your browser's storage on this device. Save a PNG to share your sketch, or save a project file to continue with every layer intact later. There are no accounts, ads inside the canvas or watermarks.

Frequently asked questions

Does it support pen pressure?
Yes. With a stylus such as Apple Pencil, Surface Pen or a Wacom tablet, the brushes get thinner or thicker with pressure. Mouse and finger input use the full brush size.
Will I lose my sketch if I close the tab?
Your drawing is autosaved locally in your browser. When you return, the editor offers to restore it. Nothing is stored on a server.
Can I use it on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Draw with one finger and use two fingers to pinch-zoom and move around the canvas.
How do I get a softer look?
Use the watercolor brush or lower the opacity slider. Each stroke is applied as one even layer, so overlapping strokes build up gradually like real paint.
