Mark up screenshots in seconds

A good screenshot with a clear arrow saves a paragraph of explanation. This annotator is built for that job: paste a screenshot with Ctrl+V and the canvas instantly takes its size, with the red arrow tool already selected. Drag from where you want the arrow to start to the thing you want to point at, then adjust either end with its handle. Switch to rectangles or ovals to frame an area, use speech callouts for short notes, or pick the text tool to write instructions directly on the image with any font, size and an optional solid background for readability.

The marker brush draws semi-transparent strokes that work like a highlighter pen over text and buttons. Use the rectangle with a solid fill to cover passwords, email addresses or customer data before you share the image. Hold Shift while drawing to keep arrows and lines at perfect 45° angles and shapes perfectly square. Every action can be undone with Ctrl+Z, so you can experiment freely.

Crop to what matters

Screenshots often include more than you need. Choose Select, drag around the important part and press Ctrl+Shift+X to crop. You can also resize the whole image or add extra space for notes by dragging the handles on the canvas edges. If you want to keep your marks separate, add a layer first and annotate on it; you can then hide it to compare before and after.

Share it anywhere

When you are done, copy the whole image to the clipboard and paste it into Slack, Teams, Jira, GitHub, email or a document, or save a PNG file. Because everything happens locally in your browser, internal dashboards, invoices and chat logs never leave your computer, and there is no signup or watermark.

Frequently asked questions

Is my screenshot uploaded?
No. Screenshots often contain private information, so everything is processed locally in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
How do I hide sensitive information?
Draw a filled rectangle over it: choose the rectangle shape, set Fill to Solid color and Outline to Solid, and pick black for both colors. The pixels underneath are replaced, not just covered by a layer, once you flatten or save.
Can I add numbered steps?
Yes. Use the oval shape with a solid fill and then the text tool to type 1, 2, 3 inside each circle, or use the callout shapes for short notes.
How do I copy the result to Slack, Teams or email?
Open the File menu and choose Copy whole image, then paste into your app. You can also select an area and press Ctrl+C to copy just that part.
